COCO shorts participated in their first fashion show last night...it was a super radical. Here's a photo from the event.

Rose Petal Jam

1. Gather your rose petals from 6 roses or so. Rinse them off in a colander with cold water.

2. Put petals in a pan with 1/2 cup water, 1/3 cup sugar, and 1 lemon (seeded and halved).

3. Bring to a boil and then simmer until mixture becomes viscous and jam-like, about 30 minutes.

4. Voila! You can now put your rose petal jam in sanitized glass jars.

5. Extra delicious and impressive on crispy crackers with goat cheese.

Yesterday was Bob Marley's birthday. If he were still alive, he'd be 66 years old. Bob was here to share peace, love, freedom, and wisdom through his music: mission accomplished. RIP Bob Marley.

When Bob found out his cancer had spread throughout his body, he still insisted on touring. During one of his last shows, he and his band (including wife Rita Marley), sound checked the song "I'm hurting Inside" for over 3 hours. He had never sound checked that song before. He died several weeks later.

Beaten and broken

the Butterfly weeps

gazing upon

the Light Her wounds seep

For as long as She knew

that Light She had hid

revealing within

to anyone forbid

The world She could change

Butterfly knew

no one to guide Her

alone She flew

She did as They told

conformed to Their mold

hoping to find

Her chance to unfold

But as the years passed

more uncertain She grew

Her power within

but a Book in a pew

For others had seen

glimses of Her Light

used and abused

She hid from Their might

For alone in Her heart

and alone in Her mind

She wandered through life

alone, tired, and blind

For She could not see

the gift within

meant to be opened

not closed in a tin

Deep down She knew

He would one day appear

only He could save Her

only Him She wouldn’t fear

And out of the darkness

He blew in with the wind

opening His wings

He invited Her in

To the sky they went

above and beyond

together they flew

to the sun She was drawn

But the life that She knew

waited behind

They called Her back

to the mold and the grind

Before She knew

She was back on the ground

like a moth to a flame

Her Light rebound

Confusion ensued

Where had She gone?

How could she leave?

And just before Dawn?

He called Her to come

return to His side

but His voice went amiss

She was back on the ride

Alone in the night

He found Her in stride

He beckoned She follow

Him out with the tide

Hesitation She had

This is all that She knew

the Sky seemed the limit

but who really knew?

He did not understand

He’d spent years in the sky

Knew all of its wonders

knew, too, She would die

Silly She seemed

stupid, in fact

from His point of view

it was guidance She lacked

He would show Her

the error of Her way

She needed to awaken

before break of day

So He kicked and He screamed

and He tore off Her wings

all in the name

of being Her king

“These wings,” he cried

“Deserve you do not!

They’re meant to be used,

not wasted on rot!”

She cried and She wailed

“Please stop this abuse!”

“A lesson you need!”

He said with refuse.

His words tore Her soul

through the lid on Her tin

revealing to all

Her Light hidden within

Broken She lay

Her wings at Her side

to His eyes She gazed

though swollen her eyes

“It is love!” he said

that orchestrated Her fall

a lesson She needed

so She could stand tall.

To his words She listened

no more did She speak

reverberations from the beating

lasted into her sleep

With the sun She awoke

still swollen and sore

tears strolled from Her eyes

alone, once more

Though beaten She was

defeated She was not

as She picked up Her wings

She noticed Her spot

The Light from within

covered the ground

improving all that it touched

for miles around

From that day on

She revealed Her Light

Her wings soon regrew

and She took off in flight

Spreading Light from the sky

affected more below

a little stretched far

more She could show

He was right, She knew

yet His method She pondered

a prick on the finger, perhaps?

Or teach by example? She wondered.

Butterflys are gentle

not meant to be crushed

iron fists teaching lessons

are for beasts from the brush

He bettered Her life

He opened Her eyes

yet the beating he insisted

over Her wails and Her cries

Soulmates, she thought

He was meant to be Hers

and yet She feared

the beatings would return

For if these were the type

of lessons he brought…

She is not a man to be made

but a Girl to be taught.

When he did come again

Him She would fear

until He opened His soul

and kind love did appear

But She remembered the lesson

He had taught Her that night

“Change the world,” he had said

“Use your Light!”

So one day in the sky

She flew higher than ever

said a prayer in Her heart

for Her one true endeavor

Now, the Butterfly awaits

wings perched on high

for Her purpose in Life

for Her place in the sky.
